Famous all over the world for both Tango and Patagonia, Argentina also means fashion. The South American Country , has recently seen a massive increase in fashion industry indeed and the emerging of fresh and new talents. Among them creations by María Abdala Zolezzi -designer of the brand Maydi– stand out.
Maria was born and has grown up in Argentina, where she has studied Advertisement in Buenos Aires. Then she has left South America to go to the British Capital, getting degree in Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion. After having spent part of her career promoting other stylists’ brands like Sonia Rykel in Milan and Paris, the designer decided to go back to Argentina and unlock her talent.
2013 is the turning point: she realized that it was high time for her to promote herself and to create a new brand characterized by both traditionally handmade production and modern lines, that is Maydi.
Underlining nature and movement, Maydi creates Kinetic, the FW2015/2016 collection, dedicated the Hungarian painter and photographer Moholy-Nagy. Main characters of the collection are printed gloves, hats and oversize sweaters characterized by clean cuts and voluminous silhouettes which accent natural fibers used: from cotton to alpaca, guanaco, angora, organic merino from Patagonia.
Garments, all handmade creations, put in evidence the passion of Maydi for details and high quality. Maydi FW 2015/2016 collection shows the main philosophy of the brand and wins our love for the ability to create timeless garments, perfect for yesterday, for today and for tomorrow.
